Jason Aaron DeRousseau, age 53, of Rice Lake died on Friday, January 17, 2025 surrounded in love by his family in his home. Jason was born June 3, 1971 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Gary and Linda DeRousseau. He started his first job at the age of 5 at Houston's Gas Station on the northside of Rice Lake. He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1989 and entered school for Police Science. Later that year, he purchased the Rice Lake Health Club at the age of 18 with the help of his mentors, Pat and Sue Hauck and Lee and Mary Graese. In 1992, he met Jim and Marlene Gargulak who took him under their wings and encouraged him to pursue a career in real estate. They believed in him like a son. At the time, he didn't even own a car; he was borrowing a car to show houses. In 1998, he started his own business of Action Appraisals, then in 2002, he started Alliance Realty with Geoff Pedersen and Steve Swoboda. From 2004-2020, he owned his own brokerage named ReMax Advantage, where he won many awards year after year. After selling ReMax in 2020, he worked with Keller-Williams Real Estate until retiring in October. Jason loved going to music concerts, broadway shows, enjoying time on the lake with friends, as well as traveling to Mexico and other places to make memories. Jason was a jokester and he loved meeting new people everywhere he went. He enjoyed golf; especially participating and sponsoring The Rice Lake Celebrity Classic each year. Jason's family and faith was the most important part of his life and that is the legacy he wishes to share with others. He lived his life asking himself how he could help others. Jason is survived by his mother, Linda DeRousseau, his brother, Ramen DeRousseau, his daughter, Carly DeRousseau, and his life partner, Becky McCann. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary DeRousseau and his dearly loved dog, Harley. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025 at Red Cedar Church at 2:30 pm with visitation beginning at 1:30. The celebration will continue after the service at Turtleback beginning at 4:00, where there will be food, refreshments, and entertainment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations would be appreciated to Jason DeRousseau Family Legacy Foundation, Inc. which is accessible at Jason DeRousseau Family Legacy Foundation, Inc. Appleyard's Home for Funerals in Rice Lake, WI is assisting and serving the family with the arrangements.

I was acquainted with Jason through our real estate careers. Jason was always kind, respectful and professional in every situation, something that can be rare in this business. He elevated the reputation of real estate by the way he conducted himself and his presence will certainly be missed. My sincere condolences to his loved ones.
