Jason James Heaton age 43, of Mountain City, TN passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at Johnson City Medical Center. He was born March 26, 1982 in Johnson County, TN to Don Heaton and the lateSherry Gambill Heaton. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jim and Roma Heaton; grandmother, Shirley Gambill; and uncle, Jerry Gambill.
Jason was a graduate of Johnson County High School. He enjoyed Star Wars, the Grinch and listening to the history channel.
He is survived by his brothers, Daniel Heaton (Amber), Jarett Knight, and DeKoda Knight; dad, Don Heaton; step-dad-, Lee Knight; special family, Paul and Maxine Potter; Dave and Jackie Garland and Charles Lelfman; several great aunts, uncles and cousins; favorite cousin, Penny Timbs who he called his little girl.
The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Mountain City Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 P.M. with Dave Garland to officiate. Burial will follow at Rainbow Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dave Garland, Rob Timbs, Adam Timbs, Dalton Timbs, Joe Crist and Joel Crist. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Potter, Charles Lelfman, Rob Wagner, Willie DeBoard and Terry Jordan.
The family would like to say a special Thank You to Mountain City Care Center, The doctors and nurses in ICU at Johnson City Medical Center for their good care of Jason.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN, 37683.
