Jason Ray Pope, 49, of Fort Madison, Iowa, passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 15th, 2025 at Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in Fort Madison.
He was born on August 3rd, 1976, to Larry Pope and Carol Buckingham in Burlington, Iowa. He spent the majority of his life in Fort Madison, where he met and fell in love with Sasha Horton and had two children, Damien Ray Pope and Julien Layne Pope. He worked a variety of labor and construction jobs for companies like Dial, Shipleys, and Walmart.
He enjoyed playing guitar and listening to music, and could often be heard late into the night playing anything from Frank Sinatra and Jimi Hendrix to Alice in Chains and Billie Eilish on his phone. He further enjoyed writing, fishing, riding motorcycles, training pitbulls, and laughing at the Impractical Jokers on TV. However, more than anything else he loved sharing time with and teasing his family. He treasured every picture of them he could find, and he could always make them laugh even when they didn't want to.
He is survived by: his father, Larry Pope, of Fort Madison, Iowa; his significant other, Sasha Horton, of Fort Madison, Iowa; his brother, Brian Pope, of Mount Pleasant, Iowa; his sister, Ashlea Pope-Adams, of Fort Madison, Iowa; two sons, Damien Pope and Julien Pope of Fort Madison, Iowa, two nephews, three nieces, and one great niece.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Carol Ruth Buckingham, of Fort Madison, Iowa.
Cremation has been entrusted to Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, Iowa. Details for his celebration of life and burial will be shared by his family in time.
