Jason Allen Powers 46, of Cameron, Missouri passed away on September 27th, 2024 after a long battle with Melanoma. Jason was born on December 28th, 1977 to Diana Lee Hickman-Carpenter and Michael DeWayne Powers. Jason attended school within the North Kansas City School District and received his GED at the request of his mother who he dearly loved. Jason was blessed to have a supportive mother and several father figures. Thom Skinner and Kerry Carpenter were prominent father figures to Jason and they loved him like he was their own.
Jason will be remembered as someone who would help anyone who asked him. He was a wonderful father and fiercely loved his children. He instilled a helper's heart in all of his children, and told them if you see someone in need and can help, do so. He loved hanging out with his children and their friends watching movies, listening to music, riding bikes, tossing the football, and practicing softball drills in the front yard. Jason taught his kids how to work on bikes and had a neighborhood "bike shop" in the garage where he would repair their bicycles. Jason also taught his kids how to work on cars and be handy around the house. He looked out for the elders in his family as well as lots of friends and other family members. He was a good mechanic and fixed lots of cars with the help of long time friends Casey and Matthew. Jason was loved by a lot of people and will be missed tremendously.
Jason is survived by his loving wife and partner in crime for 33 years. Jason and Jennifer met when they were 13 years old, and she was the love of his life. They had four beautiful children, McKayla Powers, William (Jenna) Powers, Clayton Powers, and Jaylynn Powers. Jason leaves behind his mother Diana Hickman Carpenter; Grandmother Delores Hickman; Aunt Sharon Cant' and cousin Elliot Cant'. Jason was the youngest to his four siblings; Tim (Cindy) Skinner, Renae Powers, Matt (Kellie) Skinner, and Craig (Corey) Powers; Sister in law Amber (Jim) Stewart; Brother in law Scotty Hall. Jason had five nieces and five nephews; Lily, Courtney, Katie, Brittaney, Kansas, Drew (Britany), Zane, Cole, Brendon, and Tyler; and great nephew Benny.
Jason also had many friends that will miss him.
Jason is preceded in death by his fathers, Michael Powers, Kerry Carpenter, and Thom Skinner; Beloved Grandfather William "Pete" Hickman; Cousins Lisa Bussell and Lemuel Webb.
A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, October 13th, 2024. Contact the family for more information.
The family asks that donations be made in Jason's name to Relevant Church of Liberty c/o Pastor Jeff Davidson. www.relevantchurchofliberty.com
