It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Jason Richard Rakestraw, a beloved father, son, and friend, who left us on August 20, 2025. Born on October 3, 1983, in Carrollton, Georgia, Jason was a pillar of strength and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He spent his days as a skilled welder with Waits Welding.

Jason is survived by his cherished daughter, Jamoi Rakestraw; his loving mother and step-father, Catherine and Eddie Waits; his father, Alvin Rakestraw; and his brother, Jeffery Rakestraw. He adored his three nieces, Gracy, Macy, and Kenzie, and his new great-nephew, Beckham. Each of these relationships was a cornerstone of Jason's life, reflecting the love and joy he brought to those around him.

As we navigate this profound loss, we choose to celebrate Jason's life and the indelible impact he made on our hearts. He was known for his genuine smile, infectious laugh, and the unwavering support he extended to friends and family. Jason's legacy will continue to shine brightly through the memories we all share.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at 3:00 pm at Open Door Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Layton officiating.

As we bid farewell to Jason Richard Rakestraw, let us remember him for the incredible man he was-a devoted father, a loving son, and a friend to many. May he rest in peace, forever in our hearts.
