Jason Wayne Secrist, age 56, of Smithfield, Utah, passed away suddenly on January 2, 2026, in Hyde Park, Utah.

Jason was born on May 28, 1969, in Tremonton, Utah, to Glen M. and Marilyn Estep Secrist. He graduated from Capital High School in Boise, Idaho, in 1987. Following graduation, he honorably served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Pusan, Korea, from 1988 to 1990.

Jason later enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he served his country with dedication and integrity. From 1993 to 1997 he was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, and was deployed overseas to Korea and the Middle East. He received the Air Force Achievement Medal, Air Force Training Ribbon, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.

In 2001, Jason married Kelli Miller in Boise, Idaho. They made their first home together in Cache Valley, Utah, later settling in Smithfield, where they raised their family of five children while Jason worked at OEA, Inc., later Autoliv for 25+ years. He was a proud and devoted grandfather.

Jason had a deep love for the outdoors and treasured time spent with his family hunting, fishing and backpacking. He especially cherished pheasant hunting trips in Montana with his father, brothers, sons, niece and nephews, and cousins—memories that became family traditions. He also enjoyed mountain biking, gardening, and especially loved watching football and NASCAR racing.

Throughout his life, Jason was known for his mechanical skills and superior problem-solving ability. He had a natural talent for fixing engines and working with his hands, finding great satisfaction in building, repairing, and improving all kinds of things. His willingness to help and his quiet competence were gifts freely shared with those around him.

Jason will be remembered as a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle. His life was marked by faithful service, steady strength, and deep devotion to his family. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Jason is survived by his mother, Marilyn Secrist; his brothers, Nathan Secrist (Shari) and Aaron Secrist (Brenda); his sister, Sarah Suka (Justin); his wife, Kelli, and five children; Randi Miller Phillips (John), Logan Miller (Tyra), Ryan Secrist, Luca Secrist, and Porter Secrist, with two cherished granddaughters; Hazel and Sofie Phillips and soon to be grandbaby Miller.
