Michael Secrist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Serenity Funeral and Cremation Services, P.A. on Feb. 26, 2026.
Michael Richard Secrist, 48, of Kitzmiller, Maryland, passed away on February 19, 2026.

Born on December 13, 1977, in Cumberland, Maryland, he was the son of Sharon (Johnson) Secrist of Kitzmiller and the late Melvin Secrist. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Kimberly (Johnson) Saville.

Michael was a 1996 graduate of Southern Garrett High School. He went on to serve in the United States Army as a tank turret mechanic, a role he carried out with dedication and skill.

He never met a stranger and had a natural gift for turning acquaintances into lifelong friends. Known for his constant smile and playful sense of humor, Michael brought lightness and laughter wherever he went.

Above all, Michael loved his family. He cherished time spent together and was incredibly proud of his four children. A skilled carpenter and electrician, Michael was truly a jack of all trades. There was rarely a problem he couldn't fix or a project he couldn't tackle, and he took pride in helping others whenever he could.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Lydia, Abby, Emma, and Ethan Secrist of Accident, and the mother of his children, Julie Secrist; his nephew, Philip Saville of Kitzmiller; his niece, Kayla Saville of Bloomington; and his special aunt, Shelia Metz, and uncle, Pat Harrison, of Kingwood, West Virginia.

Per Michael's request, no services will be conducted. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.I
