George Arlan Secrist, of Watkinsville, Georgia, passed away at his home on January 7th, at the age of 95. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and two daughters, Pam Kelly and Rachel Copelan. He was the last survivor of his parents’ nine children. He is survived by four children: Mark Secrist of Asheville, North Carolina, Patrice Secrist of Watkinsville, Georgia, Tim (Debra) Secrist of Chapmanville, West Virginia and Phil Secrist of Charleston, West Virginia, as well as many nieces and nephews. George was well known in Oconee County as he was the pastor in the 1970’s at the Hebron Christian Church and in the 1980’s at the Antioch Christian Church, where he was an active member until his death. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as many friends in the community.
The funeral service will be at the Antioch Christian Church off Hwy. 15 South, Watkinsville, Georgia, at 11:00 on Thursday, January 29th.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Antioch Christian Church Children’s and Youth ministry.
