Jason Waskiewicz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Silverton Memorial Funeral Home and Cremation Service - Toms River on Apr. 14, 2023.
Jason L. Waskiewicz, 51 of Toms River, NJ passed away on Saturday, April 8th while on a
family vacation in Florida. Jason was born on April 16, 1971 to Lawrence Waskiewicz and the
late Jane Myers Mikulka. He spent his younger years in Glen Ridge before moving down to the
shore and settling in Toms River, NJ. This is where he developed his passion for boating and
fishing. He was a graduate of Toms River East High School class of 1989. After graduation,
Jason (or Jay as he was known), followed in the footsteps of his father and great uncle Walter
and joined the IBEW local 52 based in Newark, NJ, later merging with local 164 in Jersey City.
Due to his incredible work ethic and people skills he quickly moved up the ranks and became a
foreman. Both Jay and his father shared in the passion for boating and fishing and together they
took the Mercury Marine course at Ocean County Vocational School. Jason married the love of
his life, Jennifer Marks on October 9, 2004. Together they have two beautiful daughters, Skylar
Elizabeth and Lily Ann, who were the light of his life and his whole world. He sobbed like a baby
the day they were born and that overwhelming feeling of love and devotion for his girls carried
on throughout his life. Jay was kind, generous, and thoughtful. He was everyone's go to for
advice, help, or simply a shoulder to lean on. He was well respected by everyone he worked
with, was related to, and friends with. He was loyal to a fault, and this is a devastating loss to all
those who knew and loved him.
Surviving are his wife, Jennifer Waskiewicz, his daughters, Skylar and Lily, of Toms River. Jason
is also survived by his sisters Kimberly Bell of Toms River, Katelyn Herbert, Lexington, KY and
Shaylyn Avella of Matawan, NJ, his father Lawrence R. Waskiewicz and step mother Barbara of
Melbourne Beach, FL, nephews Sean, Tyler, Zachary, Christopher, Daniel, Alex and Ryan, and
nieces Alexandra and Bailey. Jason also leaves behind many aunts, uncles and cousins. He
was predeceased by his mother Jane Myers Mikulka, grandparents Thomas and Marther Myers
and Lawrence and Lucille Waskiewicz.
Services are Monday April 17th at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home in Toms River, NJ with
visitation from 4pm to 8pm. Funeral service will be held at 11am at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River, NJ on Tuesday, April 18th followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributionsmay be made to Skylar and Lily's college funds
