Jason Scott Williams was born on January 5, 1973, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Roddy Williams, Sr. and Carolyn (Carter) Miller. Jason grew up alongside his two older brothers, Jeffrey and Roddy Jr., in a tight-knit military family. Raised on a Naval Base in Norfolk, Virginia, their childhood was marked by structure, discipline, and responsibility-instilled through a routine of daily chores that helped shape Jason's strong character and work ethic. As a child, Jason was baptized at First Baptist Church in Norfolk, Virginia, a foundational moment that anchored his early spiritual journey.
After the family relocated to Northern Virginia, Jason continued his education at Great Falls Elementary School, where he began to build lasting friendships and further develop his quiet strength and sense of determination. At an early age, Jason thrived in soccer, basketball, football, and tennis, and later found joy and discipline in golf. He also enjoyed cooking, exploring the world through travel, and cheering on his beloved Philadelphia Eagles. His passions were many, but above all, Jason lived a life centered around connection-with his family, his friends, and his community.
In the fall of 1991, Jason began his studies at James Madison University. During a casual visit to a friend's dorm room, he met Christine Chang, who was quietly studying on a Friday night. Playfully teasing her about hitting the books on the weekend, Jason left an impression-but returned just a week later with his own books in hand to study beside her. That simple evening marked the beginning of a beautiful 33-year journey filled with laughter, growth, adventure, and unwavering devotion. Jason and Christine were married just two weeks after the events of 9/11, grounding their union in love and resilience during one of the country's most uncertain times-a testament to the strength of their bond from the very start. Together, they built a life across Alexandria, Virginia; Raleigh, North Carolina; and eventually Maui, Hawaii, where they have lived for the past 22 years.
Jason began his financial career at Scott & Stringfellow in Alexandria and later joined Morgan Stanley, working across D.C., North Carolina, and Hawaii. He quickly earned a reputation as one of Maui's most trusted financial advisors, and in 2006, was honored as one of Hawaii's "40 Under 40" rising professionals. He later held positions at Central Pacific Bank and American Savings Bank before founding Maui Wealth Management on June 19, 2020-a company built on his belief in relationships, transparency, and trust.
Jason's commitment to his clients extended beyond the office. Whether through mochi pounding events, fishing trips, or heartfelt check-ins, Jason made his clients feel like family. His work was not simply about numbers-it was about changing lives.
His deep sense of service also shaped his personal life. Jason devoted time to numerous organizations, including Aloha House, Maui Youth and Family Services, Malama Family Services, and Maui United Way, where he served as a board member. He coached youth soccer, football, and basketball teams to multiple championships, and was active in the Kiwanis Club of Kahului and the Maui Young Business Roundtable. He was appointed to both the County of Maui Salary Commission and the Liquor Control Adjudication Board, receiving special recognition from the Mayor of Maui County for his public service in 2009 and again in 2022.
Jason's most cherished role, however, was that of a son, devoted husband, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. He poured love into his family-especially his nephews, Justin, Alexander, Andrew, and Adam, and nieces, Ashley and Gabrielle-and found endless joy in time spent with them. His bond with his dogs, Koa, Moku, and Lil Kim Chee, reflected the warmth and loyalty that defined all of his relationships.
Jason is survived by his beloved wife Christine (Chang) Williams; brothers Jeff and Roddy Williams; sisters-in-law Natasha, Jenny, and Shay Williams; nieces and nephews Justin, Alexander, Andrew, Adam, Ashley, and Gabrielle; mother-in-law Grace Chang; and sisters-in-law Virginia and Jennifer Chang.
He also leaves behind his cherished Kappa Alpha Psi line brothers and lifelong friends Verlin Edwards, Donnie Dukes, and Joseph Daniels, as well as a wide circle of extended family, colleagues, and friends who will continue to carry his light.
Jason was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roddy Williams Sr. and Carolyn Miller.
Jason's legacy is one of generosity, laughter, deep faith, and true service. He lived with heart, purpose, and a powerful commitment to lifting others up. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
