Jason Riley Wise, known affectionately as Jason to his friends and family, passed away on November 12, 2025, in Houston, Texas. Born on October 13, 1972, in Pasadena, Texas, Jason's life was marked by his vibrant personality and a multitude of talents that he shared generously with those around him. Despite a valiant struggle with health challenges following a massive heart attack in April 2025, Jason's condition progressed to end-stage Congestive Heart Failure.
Jason attended LaPorte High School in LaPorte, Texas, where he first began to exhibit his natural flair for music and the arts. His work life was diverse and included significant time spent in construction. Notably, Jason contributed his skills to Brown and Root during a stint in Iraq in 2007, showcasing his ability to adapt and thrive even in challenging environments.
Jason's passion for music was undeniable. He taught himself to play several instruments, with the harmonica being his favorite. His musical talent was just one aspect of his creative spirit. Jason also had a deep love for nature, which was evident in his care for plants and animals. His fondness for beagles was particularly strong, and he found great joy in their companionship.
Those who knew Jason will remember him for his tender heart and passionate nature. His presence could light up any room, and his contagious smile and humorous disposition were a source of comfort and laughter for many. Jason's ability to lighten the mood and bring a sense of ease to any situation was a gift that will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Jason is survived by his son, Dustin Riley Wise, and daughter-in-law Missy, along with his cherished grandchildren: Ophelia Joy, Noah, and Navi Ortega, and Odin Blackshear. He also leaves behind his brother, Bobby Duane Wise, as well as a loving circle of aunts, uncles, and cousins who will hold his memory dear. Jason was preceded in death by his parents, Bobby Joe and Dorothy Wise, and his sister, Dwana Wise.
As we bid farewell to Jason, we celebrate the time we were fortunate to share with him. His spirit and the memories he created will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends. Jason's life was a testament to the beauty of embracing one's passions and the impact a single soul can have on the world. Though he has left us too soon, the echoes of his laughter and the harmony of his music will endure forever.
