Jasper White

ATHENS - Jasper Lee White, 84, of Athens, died Friday, January 19, 2024 at Hospice of Southern West Virginia in Beckley. He resided in Hinton prior to his death. Born March 19, 1939 in Elgood, he was the son of the late Andrew Harvey White and Fannie Jane White. He was the last of his generation.
Jasper was a retired brick mason and a master of his trade, specializing in fireplaces. He enjoyed playing his guitar, watching westerns in his free time and hanging out with friends on the liar's bench at The Deli Mart in Athens drinking coffee.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Phyllis Jane White.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Brewster White; two daughters, Annie Lee Pennington and Jacqueline Phyllis Barbery; four grandchildren, Jessica Jarvis, Casey Pennington Vault, David Allen Goad and Heather Meadows; and four great grandchildren, Waylon Jarvis, Brett Jarvis, Bryson Hagerman and Marissa Goad.
There will be no services at the funeral home. Honoring his wishes, he will be cremated and interred at his family cemetery on Pisgah Road in Princeton at a later date.
