     Javier Tapia Juarez, age 58, of Harris, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at his home.

     A visitation with the family present will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Jurrens Funeral Home in Ocheyedan, IA.

     The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 11, 2025, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Fr. Miguel Proaño officiating. Burial will follow at Union Cemetery in Harris, IA.

     Javier Tapia Juarez was born on December 4, 1967, in Coeneo, Michoacán, Mexico, to Roberto Tapia Morales and Angelina Juarez Salinas. He was raised in San Pedro Tacaro, Michoacán, where he attended school and completed training in electrical work. On December 12, 1992, Javier married Angelica Espinoza Romero in Michoacán. They briefly lived in Perry, IA, before moving to Mountain Home, ID, where their eldest children, Guadalupe Tapia de Nevarez and Javier Tapia, were born in Twin Falls, ID. The family later settled in Harris, IA, in 2000, where their younger children, Edgar Tapia and Eric Tapia, were both born in Sibley, IA. Javier cherished spending time with his friends and family and found joy in grilling, cooking, and discovering new recipes. He loved working on his kids' cars, raising animals, tending to his garden, watching boxing, traveling, and watching sports with his kids.

     He is survived by his loving wife, Angelica Espinoza Romero of Harris, IA; his children: Guadalupe Tapia de Nevarez (Ismael Nevarez) of Spirit Lake, IA; Javier Tapia (Lou Yefimova) of Sioux Falls, SD; Edgar Tapia of Cedar Falls, IA; and Eric Tapia of Sioux Falls, SD; and his three grandchildren, David, Javier, and Arthur. He is also survived by his siblings: Adrian Tapia, Margarita Tapia, and Roberto Tapia of Michoacán, Mexico; Elio Tapia, Salud Tapia, and Arcelia Tapia of Idaho.

     Javier was preceded in death by his parents, Roberto and Angelina, and his son, Osmar Tapia Rodriguez.
