Javier Fermin Ortiz was born September 9th, 1991, in Oklahoma City to Bethany Brown-Smith. He was brought home to Cecilia and Fermin Ortiz where he was raised in Oklahoma City with his four older sisters. He attended Fairview Elementary and Moore West Junior High School and later received his GED.
In the year 2007, he became a father to Sierra Marie Burton. From the moment she was born, Sierra had her Daddy wrapped around her finger. He loved being a father and took pride in being the best he could be for her.
Javier had a laugh that could radiate a room and a smile that would have all the ladies weak in their knees. He loved spending time with family and friends and spoiling his nieces and nephews. Though born and raised in Oklahoma, he was Puerto Rican through and through and never shied away from expressing his love for the island his family is from.
Life for Javi was faced with many adversities, but he persisted with his head high and his chin out. Through every failure and misfortune, he knew he could rely on the love and support he received from his parents. He was grateful for his father's guidance and knowledge. He would always say he wanted to have a family with a house and backyard just like his dad.
The love he had for his Puerto Rican Queen, his mother, was immeasurable and her love was his compass throughout his journey of life.
Javier Fermin Ortiz was a caring son, brother, father, and a loving uncle, cousin, and friend. His life was suddenly taken from him January 23 at the age of 31.
Javier is preceded in death by his birth mother, Bethany Brown, grandmother Mercedes Cosme, his maternal grandmother, Esther Jean Smith, and his paternal grandmother, Delores Ortiz.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving parents, Fermin and Cecilia Ortiz; his beloved daughter, Sierra Blurton; his siblings, Lorraine Ortiz, Veronica Ortiz, Eileen Kabba and her husband, Jermaine, April Johnson and her husband, Tracy, DeAngelo Brown, Brittany Brown, and Malcome Brown; many nieces and nephews including Sterlin Ortiz, Donnie Ortiz, Korrina Ortiz, Taelin Ortiz, Cecelia Wimms, Tracy Johnson, Kingston Wimms, Nasir Kabba, Marlee Kabba, Jo'Ziah Smith, A'Lani Johnson, Santino Kabba, and Alijah Johnson; along with many more loving extended family members and friends.
