Jawslynn Wilberta Steele, age 32, of Ft Duchesne, passed away unexpectedly on October 10, 2024, in her home.
She was born May 22, 1992, in Roosevelt, to Herbert and Jane Taveapont Steele.
Jawslynn enjoyed listening to her music and taking trips to Salt Lake City and Provo area with family, and taking pictures of them in the vehicle along the way. She liked going to mud bogs locally and watching the family that was participating. She danced at Pow Wows and really enjoyed dancing at the Bear Dances, making sure to go every day. She would participate in Hand Games, where she sat right beside her father. She enjoyed traveling, going to different states and seeing many historical attractions with her mom and dad. She also liked gambling in Wendover.
She’s had many “fur babies” in her lifetime and was known to take in strays and take care of them. She enjoyed walking everywhere in the Ft. Duchesne area. She loved going to family barbeques, that were mostly held in the mountains, that’s when she would do some fishing. When she was little, she had a horse of her own, that she named “Pritzi” they would ride out into the fields and chase the cows and horses around. She liked riding her mountain bike and going hunting with her dad and family. Her family was her life. She loved being around them, they always were laughing and joking and teasing each other. She will be greatly missed by everyone. She lived her life the way that she wanted.
Jawslynn is survived by her mother, Jane Steele, Altera; sisters, Cody (Jayson) Thompson, Ft. Duchesne; Heather Manning, Annie Jenks, both of Vernal; Rojeana (Drew) Manning, Ft. Duchesne; Jesse (Daniel) Jenks, Vernal; brothers, Rayson (Marlene) Taveapont, Bekenneth (Jashaun) Taveapont, her nieces and nephews, Jayson II, Conrad, Darwin & Rochelle Belding, Marcos, Zuhailey, & Mateo Cesspooch, Emily & Jenesis Jenks, Blixx, Buck, Lemmy, Xavier, and Raylene “Miracle” Taveapont, Anthony Carlos, Janell Carlos, Ansle Miller, Hauskie Miller, Torrance Miller, William Miller, Glendora Carlos, aunts and uncles, Katherine (Earl Sr) Manning of Indian Bench; Nancy Thompson, Altera; Vivian Bedonie, Roosevelt; Don (Roseline) Taveapont, Whiterocks; Roberta Reed, Ft. Duchesne; close cousins, Hiet Jenks, Kyle Manning, Chants Manning, Nathan Manning, Aspen Manning, Maycee Manning, Tiger Taveapont, Andrew Taveapont, and many other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, brothers, LJ Taveapont, Jessie Miller, grandparents, Carrie and Ray Taveapont, aunts and uncles, Rosemary Thompson, Gregory Taveapont, Raymond Taveapont, Ingrid & Hank Wopsock, Sonja Wopsock, niece, Antonia Miller, close cousins, Nicholas Manning, Trooper Jenks, and Chase Taveapont and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at the Hullinger Mortuary. Burial will be in the Red Knoll Cemetery.
