Jay Daniel Bona, 48, of North Concord passed away peacefully in his home on April 8, 2025.
Jay was born on April 12, 1976 in Lancaster, NH to George and Claire (Philips) Bona. He attended Concord High School, where his time as an Upward Bound student at Lyndon State College sparked his love for learning and his long time connection with the Vermont State College System. In 2005 Jay graduated from Johnson State College with degrees in both Elementary Education and Political Science.
Over the course of his career, Jay worked at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum, spent time teaching, worked in the Lyndon State College library, and as the registrar. He was very active in the union and helped negotiate many contracts during his 25 years with the VT State College System.
Jay enjoyed the wildlife around his home, especially the many birds that would visit the feeders on his porch. He had a strong faith, believing that God is nature. Most of all, Jay loved his family and friends.
Jay was predeceased by his mother, Claire Bona.
He is survived by many loved ones and friends, including his father, George Bona; his sister Joy Atherton and her husband Jeff; his nephews Evan and Ira; and his adoring cat, Miss Bell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Caledonia Home Health & Hospice.
Jay will be laid to rest with his aunts and grandmother on their family land. His loved ones will plan private services in their own time.
