February 3, 1957 - May 30, 2025

Jay Joseph Cottet, age 68, of Seaford, DE, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2025, at home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Auburn, NY, on February 3, 1957, the son of the late Gordon and Lorraine Deacy Cottet.

Jay proudly served in the US Navy from 1976 to 1980. Jay was a senior field representative for Aloft Aero Architects, and he was a member and officer of the Nanticoke American Legion Post 6. Jay was an avid fan of both the Baltimore Orioles and the New York Giants; he also enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Jay is survived by his loving wife, Pamela, his children, Katelyn Cottet-McCadney and Jenna Cottet, his stepchildren, Chris VanZandt, Harmony Marrero (Brian), and Cline Broussard, his sister, Sherry Cottet Mendoza, grandchildren, Wyatt Taylor and Madelyn McCadney, step-grandchildren, Hannah Grace VanZandt and Emily Rose VanZandt, niece, Colleen Field (Chris), nephew, Daniel Wilbur (Erin), as well as many great nieces and great nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Lorraine Deacy Cottet, and his late wife, Brenda.

A special thanks to all of the nurses and personnel at the Seaford Cancer Center and our hospice nurses, Kim and Melinda.

A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 6, 2025, at 11 a.m., with a public visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. at Cranston Funeral Home, 300 N Shipley Street Seaford, DE.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jay and I were friends and coworkers earlier in our aviation career. We work together at a place called Pat's aircraft. Services. Jay was a very good aircraft mechanic. He will be missed, but never forgotten.
