Jay Dell Ellingford, 86, of Ammon, passed away March 2, 2026, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
Jay was born February 12, 1940, in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Samuel Richard Ellingford and Amy Luzett Ellingford. He grew up and attended schools in Ammon and graduated from Bonneville High School.
On May 27, 1961, he married Carole Ann Hazelton in Idaho Falls. Jay and Carole made their home in Ammon, Idaho, where they raised their family. Jay worked as a heavy equipment operator and manager for Producers Pumice.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Jay built his life around making memories with his family and puppy dogs while fishing and camping. He enjoyed dutch oven competitions and wood working with his wife. Jay’s passion was old cars and pickup trucks and he spent much of his time working on his classics and going to car shows.
Jay is survived by his wife, Carole Ann Hazelton of Ammon, ID; son, Jerry (Trudy) Ellingford of Roberts, ID; son, Jeff (Sheila) Ellingford of Rigby, ID; son, Jay Dee (Kimberly) Ellingford of Priest River, ID; 8 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Samuel Blaine “Don” Ellingford; and a sister, Mary Lajean Gehring.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2026, at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 South Ammon Road. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. and Friday from 1-1:45 p.m. prior to services. Both visitations will be at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Ammon Cemetery.
