A memorial visitation has been scheduled for Jay Anderson, age 86, who passed away on March 3, 2026, and his wife, Gaylee Laurel Anderson, age 84, who passed away April 23, 2023
Jay was born on March 21, 1939, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to the late James "Don" and Ruth (Darrington) Anderson. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School with the Class of 1956 and later attended Iowa State University, where he met his late wife, Gaylee.
A lifelong farmer and dedicated learner, Jay was deeply committed to his family and community. He served on the Tri-Center School Board, the AEA 13 District Board, along with several other local boards and organizations contributing his time and knowledge in service.
Gaylee was born on April 14, 1939, in Gowrie, Iowa to the late Larry and Maude (Decker) Sellstrom. She was preceded in death by her sister Karen. She graduated from Gowrie High School, and went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Teaching from Iowa State University. She worked at various schools over the years. Gaylee married Jay Anderson on December 28, 1963. She enjoyed a variety of things including rug hooking, quilting, antiquing, jewelry beading, gardening, and cooking.
Together, they are survived by their sons, Jay D Anderson (Michele), Jim Anderson (Tracy); grandchildren, Taylor Erftmier (Donald III), Clayton Anderson, Kate Anderson, Abigail Gardner (Matthew), and Cole Anderson; a host of other family and friends.
Jay is also survived by his siblings, Jane Dodd (Mel) and Alan Anderson (Nancy).
Memorial visitation will be held from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Hoy Kilnoski Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, 2026. Memorials are suggested to Grange Cemetery.
