Jay Austin Hager, age 56, passed away on December 22, 2025, in Ocala, Florida. He was born in Huntington, West Virginia, to Tom and Janna (Gilpin) Hager. Jay was the manager of Champion Pest Management and took great pride in his work. He was a graduate of Vanguard High School class of 1987 and The University of Central Florida class of 1993.Above all else, Jay’s greatest love was his family and friends. He cherished time spent with those he loved and found joy and peace fishing on a lake, pond, or river.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Travis Thomas Hager.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, (together for 35 years total) Jennifer McClain Hager; his sons, Cadell (Kate) Hager of Anthony and Collin Hager of Ocala; his brothers, Michael Hager of Tampa and Mark (Wendy) Hager of Ohio; his brother-in-law, Wes (Hannah) McClain of Vermont; his granddaughter, Oaklynne, and another granddaughter expected in March 2026. He is also survived by his in-laws, Doug (Connie) McClain of Oxford, and by many nieces and nephews who were dearly loved by Jay.A memorable part of Jay’s legacy is the selfless decision he made to be an organ donor. As friends and family lined the hospital halls for the honor walk, we came together to honor a man with a generous and giving heart—one whose final gift brought hope and life to those who needed it most.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Wings of Faith Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Countryside Funeral Home.In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made to an organization close to Jay’s heart: Honoring the Father Ministries, 1183 SE 57th Ave., Ocala, FL 34480. Jay was honored to serve and travel on several mission trips with this ministry. Our family is deeply grateful for the prayers, love, and kindness shown to us by family and friends. Your support has carried us through more than words can express.
