Jay Johnson, 54, of Fort Dodge, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2022 at the Paula J Baber Hospice Home. Memorial services will be held Saturday, October 1, at 10:30 AM at Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to Life Works Community Services.
Jay Lee Johnson was born October 9, 1967 to Kenneth and Roberta Johnson in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1987 Jay graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School. Jay worked as a janitor for Head Start and Buffalo Wild Wings until his health declined.
Jay was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. He loved the messages that all churches delivered and would visit other churches as well.
In his free time Jay loved to travel. Nashville, Branson, Dallas to see the Cowboys and Seattle were among his favorite destinations. He also loved going to art galleries, bowling, trains, and singing karaoke. Jay was an avid sports fan and loved cheering for the Chicago Cubs.
Left to cherish his memory are his brother Ed Johnson from Seattle, Washington; sister Deborah Fischer from Rockwell City; and niece Michelle Cervene from South Carolina. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, nephew Michael Kruger and brother-in-law Dean Fischer.
