J.H. "Jay" Justice (October 12, 1928 - January 21, 2026). On Wednesday, January 21, 2026, went to be with his Lord and Savior. Jay was a loving husband, father/father-in-law, granddaddy, uncle, and faithful trustworthy friend. He lived the last several years at the Heritage Oaks Assisted Living Village among wonderful caring Health Care workers, nurses, and administrative support, ARC (Hand in Hand) Hospice team, and surrounded by his immediate family and friends who loved him so much.
Born October 12, 1928, in Runnels County, town of
Ballinger, Texas, the only child of mother Anna Nell (Brosig) Woods and Father Robert Lee Justice. His family moved to Corsicana, and he attended 2nd grade at Lee Elementary School. Soon after, his uncle Roy and Aunt Mattie moved to Corsicana where they opened "Roy's Cafe". Jay graduated in 1946 from Corsicana High, then, attended Navarro's College, he received his Bachelor of Business Administration degree May 1951 from Mid-Western University Wichita Falls, Texas and joined the United States Air Force as second lieutenant in US Air Force stationed in Wyoming. He married his beautiful bride Janie B. Atkins from Kerens, Texas in 1953 and was together for 67 blessed years. Later, Jay received his Master's degree from North Texas State College 1956 Denton, Texas. After short period of time with Air Force, he taught school and coached sports in Groveton, Texas. Later, he served his 31-year career in business management with Texas Power & Light.
Jay was a dedicated Christian family man and volunteered in local community and serve as Sunday School class member and deacon for many years at First Baptist Church
Corsicana, Texas. He participated in baseball, basketball in high school and college. Hobbies centered around his talented skills as an avid golfer, "5 Hole in One's" and longtime fisherman. His daily routine was studying his leather worn Bible each day, drinking coffee and reading the Dallas Morning News and Corsicana Daily Sun newspapers. He was a quiet gentle soul who lived life to the fullest.
He is preceded in passing by his wife Janie B. Atkins. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, only daughter Melinda (Justice) Smith and husband Ron Smith of
Corsicana, Tx., grandson Jay Parker & wife Bailey of
Richardson, Tx., additional bonus grandchildren & spouses, and 6 grandchildren in Austin, Plano, Dallas. Also, close relatives Norton & Judy Conner & family in Kerens, Texas, and wonderful friends throughout his life. The immediate family extend love & gratitude of his care and support with the friends at Heritage Oaks Village and ARC Hospice.
