Jay Mowery Obituary

Jay Allen Mowery, 72 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023. He was born in Tiffen, Ohio to the late Howard and Margaret Carrick Mowery. Jay graduated from the University of Akron where he was a member of the football team. Jay and his wife of almost 28 years, Jackie Cheatham, made their home in Lake City for the past 4 years having previously been a longtime resident of Bonita Springs, Florida. Jay enjoyed listening to classic rock and taking rides on his Harley. Anyone who knew Jay loved him and he will be missed by all.
Survivors include his wife, Jackie Cheatham, Lake City; three children, Steven Cheatham (Michelle), West Palm Beach, Angela Cheatham, Lake City and Kim Cheatham (Steve Getchell), Parrish, FL; his sister, Jan Murphy, Tiffen, OH; and his grandchildren and spouses, Emily and Alex, John and Caitlin and Shane and Ali.
No services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S US Hwy 441, Lake City, FL 32025. Please leave words of comfort for the family at www.gatewayforestlawn.com.

When I was working at the Gym I always knew it was going to be a great day whenever I'd see Jay walk in. He was Kind, Funny, and always told it like it is. I'm very saddened to hear of his passing, my Thoughts and prayers are with his family -Kenny
