Janet Mowery Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Carlisle-Branson Funeral Service & Crematory on Feb. 3, 2026.
Janet L. Mowery, 54, of Camby, passed away on February 1, 2026, at Franciscan Health Indianapolis.

She was born in Indianapolis on January 30, 1972, to Carl and Patricia (Beinburg) Mowery. Janet faced many challenges throughout her life due to being disabled with spina bifida, yet she met those challenges with strength, grace, and a loving spirit that touched everyone who knew her.

Janet graduated from Perry Meridian High School in 1991. She had a deep love for children and dedicated much of her life to serving others. She volunteered for Berean Baptist Church with the Bearing Precious Seed Nonprofit organization, assembling Bibles, and also at the Indianapolis Zoo alongside her mother. Janet also volunteered as a teacher's aide at Valley Mills Elementary School. A devoted member of Life Line Baptist Church in Camby, Janet taught Junior Church for several years and shared her love of music by singing in church.

She found joy in crafts such as plastic canvas and latch hook, and especially enjoyed doing crafts with the children at church. Janet loved singing and had a special affection for southern gospel music. She also enjoyed watching the Hallmark Channel. Children were her greatest passion, and she delighted in knowing everyone's birthday and picking out gifts for those she loved. She especially adored her nieces and nephews.

Despite the struggles she faced throughout her life, Janet was generous, loving, caring, and trusting. Her kind heart, joyful spirit, and love for others will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.

She is survived by her father, Carl Mowery; sister, Sandy Mowery; brother, Bob Mowery (Theresa); nephews, Robby Mowery (Priscilla Horn), Patrick Mowery (Jennifer), Keith Jennings (Ashley), and Steven Jennings; and great-nieces and nephews, Eli, Arianna, and Roxanna Mowery, and Quinton, Jackson, Greyson, Charleigh, Hudson, and Cooper Jennings.

Janet was preceded in death by her mother, Patty Mowery.

Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Life Line Baptist Church. Funeral services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Tim Lindsay officiating. Burial will follow in Fairfield Friends Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Life Line Baptist Church, 13387 N Slideoff Road, Camby, Indiana 46113.
