Jay Alexander Pytel, born May 27, 1956, in Hartford, CT. passed away unexpectedly December 13, 2025. He was a charismatic, devoted, hard-working, kind, loving and grateful individual. He gathered many friends throughout his life. Once his friend – you then became his friend for life.
Jay proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp. His commitment to his country was unwavering. His life was also marked by his dedication to the construction industry. The level of Jay’s creativity and knowledge as a contractor, carpenter and electrician was master level.
Jay is survived by his loving son Dominick Pytel of E. Norriton, PA., daughter Kimberly Cavanaugh of Brooklyn, NY., siblings Debi Pytel of Coeur d Alene, ID. (whom he followed there in 2021), John Pytel and wife Cheryl of Colchester, CT and Alex Pytel Jr. of Punta Gorda, FL., a dear aunt Gloria Christiana of Burbank, CA and many nieces and nephews who loved him and his antics dearly.
His legacy lives on in the stories he told, the journeys he took, the lives he touched, and the family who will forever hold him close in their hearts.
Jay will be laid to rest at the CT. State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown, CT. in May 2026.
