Sheri Smith., 72 of Spirit Lake, ID passed away peacefully into the arms of Our Lord on March 6, 2026. She is the daughter of Richard Gilbert and Francis Fritz. She is the second youngest child of six children.
Sheri resided in the North Idaho area all of her life and raised her own family here. She met the love of her life in 1969, Timothy Smith Sr. They married in February of 1970 and welcomed their first born in August of that same year. They went on to have four more children with the last being a surprise and quite the gap between the youngest and oldest.
Sheri and Tim shared many adventures together, between road trips and fishing out on the lake with her dad and brother, to having BBQ’s in the summers surrounded by all of their family. She enjoyed her hobbies of crafting, crocheting, cooking, canning and baking. She used to make pajamas and blankets for her grandkids and children for Christmas. Her and Tim enjoyed going to the Casino and always trying to hit it big, but over the years, it became a thing they liked to do together. In their younger years, they loved to go dancing on Friday nights or go to the drive-in movie. She also loved to bowl and even used to play on league, which brought great enjoyment.
For most of their married life, Sheri, was a proud homemaker with rearing and raising five kids. It wasn’t until the youngest was in her teens that she went back to work. She worked at Walmart for about 7 years, both Post Falls and Hayden and in that time, making friendships that she’d cherished and reminisced on for years to come. She would go to the store and always run into someone she worked with and get to catch up, which in turn made her feel good.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Timothy and their five children, Alice (Clinton), Timothy Jr (Kelly), Merriah (Michael), Jason (Annaka) and Alisa (Jesse). She also has 18 grandchildren plus their spouses and 26 great- grandchildren. And it all started with just the two of them. Also survived by her youngest brother, Brett and many nieces, nephews, in- laws and cousins.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, Richard and Francis, her siblings, Warren, Marie, Donna and Rick, her grandson Logan and in-laws, Harold and Betty Atkinson.
A celebration of life will be announced at a later date by the family. We want to thank US Renal Care for all the care, time and patience that went into caring for our wife and mother. Also a huge thank you to Kootenai Health for the kindness that was shown for her and her family on the day of her passing.
We have peace in knowing that our wife, mother and grandmother accepted the Lord as her Savior and know that we will see her again one day.
" I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
I will not fear though tens of thousands assail me on every side." ~ Psalm 3: 5-6
