Floyd Allen Draine, Sr. passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2026, in Post Falls, Idaho. He was 78 years old.

Floyd was born on February 20, 1948, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to Daisy Margaret (Bocook) and Albert Benjamin Draine. He attended Rogers High School in Spokane, Washington. On September 9, 1967, he married the love of his life, Carol Ann Deardorff, in Spokane, beginning a marriage that spanned nearly six decades.

Floyd proudly served his country in the United States Army from May 17, 1965, to May 26, 1968, during the Vietnam era. Following his military service, he built a long and hardworking career as an underground miner. For 33 years he worked at Sunshine and Newmont mines, and also spent time working for Boise Cascade.

Over the years Floyd lived in several communities, including Elko, Nevada; Spearfish, South Dakota; Mayer, Arizona; and Kellogg, Idaho. For the past 15 years, Post Falls has been home.

Floyd was a man of deep faith and was a member of Abundant Christian Life Center (ACLC) in Rathdrum. He was known for his compassionate heart, loving nature, strong mind, and spiritual devotion. He enjoyed watching sports, coaching boxing, hunting, camping, and especially spending time with his family, who meant everything to him.

Floyd is survived by his devoted wife, Carol Ann (Deardorff) Draine; his sons, Floyd Draine Jr. of Post Falls, Idaho, and Albert Benjamin Draine (Billie) of Rockwall, Texas; and his daughters, Sheila Marie Nelson (Merle) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, Shelly Kay Hanes (Danial) of Tacoma, Washington, and Samantha Lynn Scott (James) of Spokane Valley, Washington. He is also survived by his brothers, Johnny, Walter, and James; his sisters, Mildred and Lorretta; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Daisy Draine; his brothers, Daniel and Thomas; his sisters, Joyce and Roberta; and his grandparents, Flossie and Thomas Jacob Bocook, and Thomas Marion Draine and Eva Draine.
