Obituary for Arlene F. Caferro
Arlene F. Caferro, lifelong resident of
Spokane, Washington, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Spokane on April 1, 1945, to Leslie E. Hines II and Pearl E. Hines (née Cook).
Arlene graduated from Rogers High School in 1963 and later pursued studies in Education, becoming a certified Montessori teacher. On January 11, 1964, she married the love of her life, Dennis E. "Denny" Caferro, in Spokane. They shared a beautiful life together until his passing in August 1996. Though she never remarried, Arlene was blessed with the devoted companionship of John Amicarella for 20 years.
A devoted mother of three, Arlene dedicated her life to her family. Over the years she taught preschool, nurtured children through Montessori methods, and co-founded a small manufacturing business with Denny-continuing to run it for many years after his passing. Her work ethic, creativity, and resilience were evident in everything she pursued.
Arlene's interests were as rich as the life she lived. She loved to travel, weaving together cherished memories across the United States and Europe with her family. A lover of animals-especially English bulldogs-she was a gentle and faithful caretaker to several unforgettable companions. She was also an accomplished artist with a remarkable natural talent, and an avid reader who enjoyed a wide variety of genres. A devout Catholic, she was a lifelong member of St. Aloysius Parish. Her garden, especially her beloved roses, reflected her patience, dedication, and care.
Arlene will be remembered for her kind and selfless nature, her calming presence, her keen sense of humor, and her profound faith. She lived her life with grace, humility, and a steadfast trust in God, guided by the inspiration of Saints Teresa, Francis, and Christopher.
She is survived by her sons Joe and Tom, and her daughter in law Krista. She is also survived by sisters in law Roberta, Jackie, and Terri, and brother-in-law Jay. Arlene leaves behind her beloved nieces Christina, Wendy, Toni, Raelene and Cindi and Jacki; nephews Leslie, James, Brian and Ed as well as numerous cousins, great nieces and nephews, and Godchildren.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Denny, her son Nicholas, her brothers Leslie and Duane, and her brother in law Ron. She is also mourned by her three grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride into her life. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Aloysius Parish,
Spokane, Washington.
Arlene's warmth, compassion, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her. May her memory be eternal.
