Jay Rasmussen Obituary
Jay was a beloved member of the community serving 25 years as a Lieutenant for Hampshire Fire Department and 27 years as a groundskeeper for Hampshire High School. In his free time he could be seen shirtless, smoking a cigarette, cracking a joke and trying to catch a good tan. He also enjoyed spending time on the golf course with his closest friends.
He was born August 9th, 1963, in Belvidere, Illinois, the son of James and Carol (Eckhardt) Rasmussen.
Jay is survived by his children, Ryan Rasmussen, and McKenzie (Jacob) Rasmussen; former wife and friend Kimberly Johnson; his siblings, Joy McKee, Jim Rasmussen, Jack Rasmussen, and Julie (Barry) Wambold; as well as many friends and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Jeff Rasmussen.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 17th at First United Methodist, 207 E Grove, Hampshire, IL 60140 in Hampshire from 9:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. A private burial will follow in Burlington Township Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jay's name may be directed to the family.
