 Aaron Hatch Rasmussen (Burr)

On January 31, 2026, Aaron Hatch Rasmussen - known to most as Burr - left this life unexpectedly.

Burr was born on September 8, 1944, in Flagstaff, Arizona, to Willis Leland and Veola Hatch Rasmussen. His childhood was spent in the mountains west of Veyo, Utah, where he lived a solitary life shaped by wide open spaces. In his teenage years, the family moved to Veyo, Utah, where he found joy in friendships and delighted in helping Lee maintain their many mining claims.

He graduated from Dixie High School and later from Dixie State University.

Burr was actively involved in the 5M Mining Company and deeply valued the camaraderie of lifelong friends there.

In 1967, Burr married Jeannie Parker in Veyo, Utah. They made their home in Santa Clara, Utah, where they raised their nine children. In 1991, he married Marianne Smith in St. George, Utah.

Burr was a man of distinct interests. He loved flying, firearms, and the meticulous craft of reloading his own ammunition. He had a lifelong fascination with minerals and chemistry, and he never lost his curiosity for how things worked beneath the surface. Those who knew him best would say he was a gruff ol' bear - all growl on the outside, with a big soft heart on the inside. He had a tender side that found its place in service. He spent many hours serving in the genealogy center, helping others connect with their histories in ways that mattered deeply to him.

He is survived by his children: Clint (Marcia) Rasmussen, Joseph (Brooke) Rasmussen, Phillip Lytle (Florence Leavitt), Jessica (Billy) Tutor, Dawn (Travis) Tippetts, Maggie (Myron) Nilsson, Michael Rasmussen, William (Brittney) Cassidy, and Robyn (Erwin) Pledger; along with thirty-five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Burr was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marianne, and his son Jason.

Surely there's a lively, joyful reunion happening somewhere beyond.

An evening viewing will be held Friday, February 6 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Spilsbury Hurricane Valley Mortuary, 25 2000 West, Hurricane, Utah. Another viewing will be held Saturday morning, February 7 before the service at the La Verkin Chapel, 481 North Main, La Verkin, Utah from 10:30 - 11:30am. Funeral service will follow at 12:00pm with the interment held at the Hurricane City Cemetery after the services.
