On 7 February 2026, John Glenn Meeks, age 95, passed away surrounded by his beloved family at Treeo Senior Living Facility in Orem, Utah. He was born on 13 February 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the son of John Glenn Meeks Senior and Verona Lesieur Meeks. He grew up in the Salt Lake City area and graduated from East High School. He was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During the Korean War, he served for three years in the United States Navy, reaching the rate of Aircraft Machinist Mate 3rd Class and serving in combat aboard the USS PRINCETON off the coast of Korea Upon separation from the Navy, he used his GI Bill to attend the University of Utah and receiving a Bachelor's Degree in History and Education. While attending university, he met and married his beloved wife and lifelong sweetheart, Florine Delores Sherrell, from Dallas Texas, and married her for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on 18 March 1955. They remained together until Florine's death on 3 November 2019.

John was a lifelong educator and teacher. His professional career included teaching history, drama, and speech at the High School level, serving as a middle school vice principal and principal, a high school principal, vice principal and an assistant superintendent in school districts in the San Diego area, central California, and Utah. Of principle note was his work to establish Twin Peaks Intermediate School in Poway, California, laying the groundwork for opening the school at the District Level and then serving as its first principle. His leadership and teaching style was characterized by a sparkling charisma that got students excited about learning and sustain an eagerness to grow and progress, and he never stopped seeking to create excellence in those students and faculty that came into his sphere of influence. After a full career, he and his beloved wife retired in Washington, Utah.

John took extraordinary pride in standing at the head of great posterity. He was active in the lives of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was always ready with a story, a listening ear, active assistance, and a capacity to love those who sought his aid. He served throughout his life in the Church, serving with the Youth and adult programs and finding special joy in producing and directing numerous road shows, which his family still remember and sing to this day. He loved missionary work and strove always to support the elders and sisters in his Ward while seeking out those who were seeking the Lord. Even in his final years, he served as the Sunday School President at his Branch, concluding a life of dedication to the Lord.

He is survived by his brother, Roy Edward Meeks, and his children Jeffrey Meeks and his wife, Joyce Meeks, of Oceanside, California; Bruce Meeks and his husband, Phil Fox, of Warren, Connecticut; Cheryl Meeks of Eagle Mountain, Utah; Jesse Meeks and his wife, Ann Meeks, of American Fork, Utah; Jennifer Brotherson and her husband, Scott Brotherson, of Bunkerville, Nevada; and Glenda Williams and her husband, Scott Williams, of Nephi, Utah. He was the proud grandfather of twenty-two wonderful grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Florine, his parents, John Glenn Meeks Sr. and Verona Meeks, his brothers Stanley and Roger Meeks, and his eldest son, John William Meeks.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, 14 February 2026, 11:00 a.m. at the Coral Canyon chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 1950 North Coral Canyon Blvd, Washington, Utah. Friends may call at the church between 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. for those who would like to pay their final respects. After funeral services, John will be interred at the Washington City Cemetery beside his beloved wife.
