Jay Elmer Rohrer, 75, of Decatur went to be with his Lord & Savior Friday, October 4th, 2024 after a battle with cancer surrounded by his loved ones at home.
Funeral is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 at Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur with burial at Sand Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Philip Neely and Allen Pop will officiate. Pallbearers include Matt Rohrer, Theo Rohrer, Brent Eudy, Mark Casteel, David Zastrow, and Rick Doobraj.
Jay was born February 7th, 1949 to Elmer Herr and Ruth (Garber) Rohrer in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. He was united in marriage June 23rd, 2018 to Donna Vande Hei in Ft. Worth, Texas. Jay graduated Penn Manor High School and was an independent truck driver for many years. He was a beloved son, husband, father, step-father, grandfather and friend to many who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Rohrer; and his wife in 2016, Jane Eudy Rohrer.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna Rohrer of Decatur; 2 daughters, Rebecca Rogers and husband Kevin of Nebraska, and Amy Speckmann and husband Scott of Nebraska; a son, Matt Rohrer and fiancé Lisa of Kansas; 19 grandchildren; 6 sisters, Norma Jean Neff, Susan Kershner, Nancy Sauder, Linda Landis, Esther Myers, and Vera Forona; his mother, Ruth Garber Rohrer; his step-sons, Brent Eudy, Scott Eudy, and David Zastrow; his step-daughters, Laura Villarreal, and Elizabeth Casteel; extended family members and a host of friends.
