Jaydon Kurtz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home on Feb. 7, 2026.
Jaydon Tyler Kurtz, 19, of Quincy, went to be with the Lord on Monday, February 2, 2026, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL.

Jaydon was born February 14, 2006, in Quincy, IL to Ted McMahon and Brooke (Klauser) Kurtz.

Survivors include his father, Ted McMahon (April); his mother, Brooke Kurtz; two brothers, Jordan Daniel and Leland Kurtz; his grandfather, Cletus Klauser; his aunt, Bridget Ormond (Lance); several close cousins; and his family cat, Millie.

Jaydon was preceded in death by his grandmother, Bonnie Klauser.

Jaydon's early life was marked by a vibrant spirit and a passion for sports. While attending Central High School in Camp Point, IL, he excelled in basketball, football, and travel baseball, and later finished his schooling at Quincy Senior High. His love for the game was matched only by his love for the outdoors. Jaydon found peace and excitement outdoors, whether he was riding 4-wheelers, side by side riding, fishing, or swimming. His adventures took him to the sandy shores of the Gulf Shores, Florida, Ozarks, and many east coasts states including seeing the Statue of Liberty, where he created lasting memories with his loved ones.

Jaydon enjoyed car meets and races. His support for his favorite sports teams, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Kansas City Chiefs, was unwavering. He always had a passion for music and would often break out in a dance here and there. He had a unique flair for fashion, particularly shoes, and was known for his distinctive, mismatched style. Above all, Jaydon loved to spend time with family and friends. He will be remembered for his free-spirited and well-mannered nature, his boundless dreams, and smiley personality, which earned him the nickname "Smiley." His radiant smile, outgoing personality, thoughtfulness, and good sense of humor will be sorely missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Friends and Family are invited to Jaydon's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be Wednesday, February 11, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at O'Donnell-Cookson Life Celebration Home in Quincy, IL. A Memorial Service will follow at 6:00 pm. Pastor Caitlin Thomas will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to O'Donnell-Cookson to help the family with final expenses.
