Jean Edna Averill (Connett) passed into the embrace of Our Lord Jesus Christ on September 10th, 2025.

Jean was born to Earl E "Curly" Connett and Edna Alice Connett (Malloy) on August 29th, 1950.

Jean was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, niece, cousin, and friend.

Jean was a member of Central Bible Church Assembly of God in Des Moines. Saved by God's Grace, Jean was a vibrant, funny, empathetic and caring soul. As a mother, she gave all that she could for her family. She held her friends close in her heart, and they were very precious to her. Jean fought hard for the rights of her employees for the many, many years she served in HR and administrative roles at Luther Park Health Center in Des Moines, and she often fought for others, too, using her sharp mind and even sharper Irish wit.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Earl Floyd Connett and Robert Lee Connett; and her half-brothers, Harold and PFC Donald Cresley Connett.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hartley, her son, Sean (Korey) Averill, her grandchildren Alaina (Zack) Wolfe, Kadie and Connor Hartley, Elijah and Finnegan Averill, and her great-granddaughter, Carmina Hartley.

Arrangements for a memorial service are pending.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hope Ministries at https://www.hopeiowa.org/ or directly to Central Bible Church Assembly of God in Des Moines.

"For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain."
-Philippians 1:21
