Jean Baxter of Portsmouth, VA, formerly of Hopelawn, New Jersey, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Bon Secours Harborview Medical Center in Suffolk, VA. She was 94.

Born in Perth Amboy, NJ, Jean lived in Hopelawn, NJ for 55 years. Jean graduated from Perth Amboy High School in 1950. She was a parishioner of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Perth Amboy, St. Peter's Mother's Guild, Danish Sisterhood of America, and the Emmaus Chapter # 183 of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jean also worked at Macy's in Edison before retiring. She loved camping and traveling throughout the USA and Canada.

Jean was predeceased by her husband Edward G. Baxter in 2018, and her daughter, Barbara Yulick in 2020. She is survived by her children: Ellen and her husband John Franke, Scott Baxter, and Wayne Baxter and his wife Maria; grandchildren: Eric, Robert, Ian, Danielle, Winter, Dana, Peter; and great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Zackary.

Visitation will held on Friday, January 2, 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM and 7 PM to 9 PM at Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, starting at 9:15 AM from Flynn and Son / Mitruska Funeral Home, 23 Ford Avenue, Fords followed by a 10 AM Funeral Liturgy at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Perth Amboy. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park, North Brunswick.
