Jean F. Beck, age 83, of Cumberland passed away at Cambridge Senior Living in Rice Lake, WI on Oct. 7, 2025.
Jean was born March 21, 1942 to Max and Mary Beck in Baraboo, WI. In 1945, they moved from Baraboo to Cumberland, where Jean would graduate high school in 1960. Following high school, she attended UW Superior for her undergrad, where she majored in Social Work and minored in Music. All the while, working her way through at the Bakery in Cumberland. Life led to working several jobs across the US, from California to Colorado, Southern Wisconsin, and finally, back to Cumberland in 1985 to help care for her father after her mother's passing.
Jean worked at Head Start program for Northern Pines, the Psychiatric unit at Cumberland Memorial Hospital for several years, before finishing her career at the Extended Care Unit, from which she retired in 2011.
Jean was an active member of the St. Anthony Catholic church, and spent a great deal of time singing in their choir. She also participated in Cumberland's Drama community. Her faith and love for music shaped her life, and she shared her gifts over the years at countless weddings, funerals, and public performances.
She is survived by two loving nieces, Barb Lau and Jennifer Blume; their children, Briana (Jeff) Owens, Faith Christensen, Rae Christensen, and Dylan Alfonse; nephew, Ron (Jana) Prospal; and their children, Lilly and Gage; as well as a great great niece, Hadley Owens.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11 AM on Friday, October 10, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Cumberland. A visitation will be held from 4 - 7 PM on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at Skinner Funeral Home, Cumberland, and one hour prior to the Mass at church.
Interment St. Anthony Cemetery.
