Jean Corbett Obituary

Jean Ann (Parmenter) Corbett died Feb. 2 in Helena, Mont., at the age of 95. She was born August 29, 1930, in Attleboro, to parents Raymond and Rose (Guild) Parmenter. She had three younger brothers: Ray, Charles, and John. All preceded her in death.

Jean graduated from Attleboro High School in 1948 and then attended the University of New Hampshire in Durham, where she met her husband, Marshall Corbett. They married on April 2, 1950, and divorced in 2000.

She completed a bachelor's degree in political science at Idaho State University in Pocatello and then got a master's in public administration.

Jean worked full-time throughout her adult life in many different capacities. Among her employers were the High Altitude Observatory and National Center for Atmospheric Research in Colorado, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare, and the Montana Taxpayers Association.

Jean eventually moved to Helena to be near daughter Gayle Shirley, son-in-law Steve Shirley, and grandsons Colin and Jesse. Her younger daughter, who changed her name to Corbett Sionainn, lives in Cambridge, Vermont.

I certainly wasn't Jean's all-time favorite great-nephew, because we didn't spend time together, but I'm certainly one of the one she's got her eye on from heavens and is rooting for. As this is true, I pledge to live my life in honor of her memory and acceleration accordingly. love you Aunt Jean.
