ADVANCE – Mrs. Jean Gobble Cornatzer, 89, of Baltimore Road, died Thursday, October 16, 2025, at her home. She was born on October 25, 1935, in Davie County, to the late John Jones and Gladys Viola Allen Gobble.
Jean was a member of Fulton Methodist Church and retired as custodian and bus driver with Shady Grove Elementary School with 25 years of service. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed the outdoors, always with her son, including farming, cows, driving her tractor, and raking hay. She loved her kitty cats, especially "Sassy", along with "Poss", "D.P.", and "Kidro", and her dog, "Lucky".
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Giles Hayden Cornatzer.
Survivors include her son, Danny Cornatzer of Advance; siblings, Ann Cornatzer of Mocksville, Tom Gobble of Mocksville, and Jo Ring (Rayvon) of Stony Point; special nieces and nephews, Mike Cornatzer and Cindy Surrett (Ed); special great nieces and nephews, Brandon Cornatzer (Sydney) and Amanda Barber (Jodey); and several other nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 19, at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Rev. Tim Fraley and Rev. Dustin James officiating. Interment will follow in Fulton Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, October 18, at Eaton Funeral Home.
