Jean Rose Cushing, age 98, Linn, KS, died Tuesday, April 1, 2025, at the Linn Community Nursing Home.
A celebration of life luncheon was held for remembering and reminiscing at Noon, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Greenleaf Club House.
She was born August 11, 1926, at Glasco, KS, the daughter of Joe and Gladys (Thorman) Osbourn. She attended 8 years of grade school at Cole School District 86 rural Greenleaf and graduated from East High School in Wichita, KS, in 1944.
On September 2, 1945, she married Otto Wiechman at Wichita, KS. They farmed the family farm in the Chepstow Community southeast of Greenleaf. Three children were born to this union: Kollette, Vickie, and Joe. Otto passed away on April 4, 1974.
Later, Jean married Everett Dean Cushing on March 26, 1976, in Topeka, KS. He passed away on July 11, 2010. Preceding her in death are her parents and brother, Merlyn Osbourn.
Survivors include daughters, Kollette (Dee) Hiesterman, Milford, Vickie (Phil) Hiesterman, Linn; and son, Joe Wiechman, Barnes; niece, Daina Davis, Kellyville, OK; grandchildren, Lisa (Shawn) Reynolds, Leavenworth, Jordan (Mindi) Hiesterman, Junction City, Luke (Megan) Hiesterman, and Heather Hiesterman, Linn, and 3 great-grandchildren.
A memorial fund is established in her name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, KS 66968.
