Jean Daddio, 87 of North Branford passed away peacefully at home on July 14, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was born August 26, 1937 in New Haven to Thomas and Cecilia (McMinn) Burns. Jean is survived by her devoted partner of 40 years, Charlie Bitzer and her three children; Anthony (Tony) Dadio (Catalina) of Soledad, CA., Diane Chadderton (Rick) of Port St. Lucie, FL., and Martin Dadio (Lisa) of Seymour and his two children; Laurie Madoule (Dave) of North Branford, and Eddie Bitzer (Heather) of Branford. She is also survived by eleven grandchildren; Jennifer Dadio, Kimberly Dadio, Jessica Dadio, Nicole Garrett (Brian), Kayleigh Clyne (Chad), Andrew Dadio, Jesse Dadio, Anthony Dadio, twins, Lauren and Kirsten Madoule and Michael Madoule along with five great grandchildren siblings; Arthur "Butch" Burns (Rose) of Derby, David Burns of MA. and Dorothy "Dottie" Pulisciano of Hamden and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents, two granddaughters: Alicia Chadderton and Amanda Chadderton and siblings; Joan Payne, Beatrice Barth, Joseph Burns, Robert Burns, Helen Lombardi, Thomas Burns and Evelyn Johnson.
Jean cherished her grandchildren deeply and found great joy in creating things for the people she loved. Whether it was crocheting, knitting, sewing, or woodworking, she poured her heart into every handmade gift. A true bird enthusiast, Jean delighted in watching and learning about birds, often sharing her knowledge with her family and proudly displaying her handcrafted birdhouses.
Spending time with her loved ones was at the heart of everything Jean did. She especially treasured traveling and spending time with her sister Joan and brother-in-law Ray. For many years, she and her beloved Charlie would escape the cold Connecticut winters by heading to Florida-something she looked forward to every year.
Jean loved camping trips with her family and adventures to the Outer Banks, the White Mountains, and Loon Mountain Resort, where she enjoyed watching the Highland Games. These travels were among her most cherished memories. She also found joy in the simple pleasures of life-sharing lobster rolls and fried shrimp with her family, listening to Elvis Presley, and laughing along with Milton Berle and Dudley Moore. Jean had a passion for capturing life's moments, and over the years, she took thousands of photographs, preserving the joy and love that surrounded her throughout her life.
Jean held a special place in her heart for her two beloved granddaughters who passed before her, Amanda and Alicia. Amanda was lost at birth, while Alicia, a true miracle and source of joy, blessed the family with seventeen remarkable years before passing just two weeks shy of her eighteenth birthday. The loss of not one, but two grandchildren, brought a sorrow that words can scarcely express. Yet through her grief, Jean carried their memory with grace and unwavering love, keeping them close in her heart always.
Above all, Jean lived a life full of love, creativity, and connection, leaving behind a legacy of warm memories and deep affection that her family will forever hold close to their hearts.
