Jean N. Droughman

Jean N. Droughman passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Fishersville, VA.

She was born June 5, 1938, to Charles and Thelma Newman. Jean was raised by foster parents, Sandy and Blanch Sandridge, who loved her dearly.

Jean was predeceased by a brother, Mervin Newman and his wife, Joyce; and a half-sister, Shirley Bragg. She is survived by her twin brother, Jim Newman and his wife, Carolyn; half-sister, Salley Raines; nephews, Charles Newman, Bill Newman and Tony Raines; and niece, June Newman.

After high school, Jean worked as Guy Branaman's legal secretary for 20 years before becoming a Realtor with E.W. Barger Real Estate. Over a 40-year real estate career she led several companies being both a top producer and also inspiring many agents to develop successful careers. She guided hundreds of clients through the sometimes daunting task of buying and selling real estate.

She had a long-standing interest in antiques and collectibles, and it was a good Saturday when she was the first person at a yard sale. She loved her dogs, travel, McDonalds, dancing, music, good friends, auctions, and sharing stories. Her memory will be treasured by her many friends who admired her stylish dress, her warm smile and laugh, and her integrity.

She had a long and happy marriage to Mark Droughman, Jr. and, since Mark's passing, was blessed with the friendship and love of Everett Stratton.

There will be no service. A gathering of friends will be held in the Gallery at the Wayne Theatre from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 24th.

Memorial donations may be made to the Wayne Theatre Alliance or the Waynesboro Family YMCA.
