Jean Esposito Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 13, 2025.
Jean M. Esposito, 80, of Lewes, Delaware, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2025.
Born on October 22, 1945, in West Chester, Pennsylvania, Jean was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Josephine Musser; her sister, Barbara Schmidt; and her beloved husband, Joseph Esposito.
She is survived by her children, John Benson (Diane) and Paige Benson (Chris), as well as her cherished granddaughters, Olivia and Sophia Benson. Jean also leaves behind her nephew and niece, Bill and Lisa Schmidt.
Jean graduated from West Chester Joint Senior High School in 1963. In 1965, she began nursing school at Abington Hospital School of Nursing. She stepped away from nursing school in 1966 to welcome her firstborn child. Jean went on to resume nursing school at the Chester County Hospital School of Nursing where she completed her education and earned her Registered Nurse certification in 1968. Throughout her career, Jean was deeply proud of her work and was often recognized as one of the best in her field.
In 1984, Jean and her husband Joseph moved to Maui, where they shared many joyful years together. After Joseph's passing in March 2001, Jean wanted to be closer to her children and relocated to Lewes, Delaware, in 2007. There, she built a wonderful circle of friends who enriched her life.
Jean was known for her warmth, wisdom, and love of conversation. She had a lifelong passion for animals and dedicated herself to rescuing and caring for them. Her hobbies included gardening, reading mysteries, needlepoint, and playing games on her iPad.
Though our mother's passing leaves us heartbroken, we find comfort in knowing she is now at peace, reunited with the loved ones who went before her.
