Jean Farrier Obituary
Born on July 31, 1937, in Staatsburg, she was the daughter of the late Henry G. and Emily Delaney Osterhoudt.
Jean was a devoted homemaker whose life centered around caring for others. She loved crocheting, playing the game Happy Color on her phone, and doing word search puzzles. For more than 51 years, she enjoyed camping at Lone Oak Campsites in Connecticut, a place filled with memories and friendships. She had a special gift for nurturing and caring for children.
Family was at the heart of everything she did. Christmas, her favorite holiday, was a time she especially cherished-gathering loved ones close, celebrating traditions, and creating warm, lasting memories.
On November 24, 1957, at the United Methodist Church in Staatsburg, she married Donald W. Farrier, who predeceased her in 2014.
Survivors include her daughter, Michele Chianfagna, and husband, Tony, of Pleasant Valley; daughter, Lori Studer, of Poughkeepsie; son, Allen Farrier, and wife, Lisa, of Poughkeepsie; daughter, Emily Porter, of Poughkeepsie; and daughter, Alisha Huggler, and husband, Rob, of Monroe, Connecticut. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her siblings, Ralph Osterhoudt and Rose Hanaburgh, both of Hyde Park, and Janet Nowall of West Palm Bay, Florida; many nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, her sheltie, Jamie.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by two sons in law, Brian Porter and Paul Studer, as well as several siblings.
Calling hours will be from 10 AM to 12 Noon on Tuesday, February 10th at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
Funeral services will follow at 12 Noon at the funeral home. Rev. Kent Jackson will officiate.
Burial will take place in the family plot at Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
