Jean Alice (Brown) Hartman, age 93, of Montpelier, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born on May 11, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to the late D.L. "Buss" and Alma (Rosendaul) Brown. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1949. On October 9, 1954 she married Roy Anthony Hartman, who preceded her in death on February 03, 1996.
Jean loved the Lord and was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church for over 78 years. Jean loved fashion, travel, and the company of her beloved cats. She enjoyed shopping and spontaneous road trips. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting and needlework. She especially loved spending time with family and enjoyed frequent trips to Jensen Beach, Florida where the beach was her favorite place to be.
Jean's survivors include, her daughters, Kelly Jean (Ric) Michael, of Montpelier, Ohio and Rory Kate (Kevin Wisell) Hartman, of Jensen Beach, Florida. Seven grandchildren, Erin McGee, Gabrial Schuman, Sean Michael, Kaitlin Harter, Sydney Lougheed, Chase Mercer, and Colin Mercer. Seven great-grandchildren, Meara, Aislinn and Cavan McGee, Ashlyn, Braelyn and Carissa Harter, and Rowan Michael. Jean is also survived by her sister, Dolores "Mary" Knepper and by Jean's best friend since the second grade, Marcella Jean (Grice) Gamboe.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, a brother, Dennis Brown and a daughter, Molly Ann Lougheed.
A time to receive friends with the Hartman family will be held on Saturday, November 09, 2024, from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul's Methodist Church, 402 Broad Street, Montpelier, Ohio 43543.
A Celebration of Jean's Life will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church. Pastor Kevin Doseck will officiate.
Memorial contributions may be made in Jean's memory to the Williams County Humane Society.
The Hartman family would like to extend special thanks to the Elara Home Health and Hospice team of nurses, aides, social workers and chaplain. We so appreciate the care and comfort you provided to our Momma and our family. Also, heartfelt thanks to her grandson, Chase, for the loving care and devotion he provided to his Nana.
