Jean Heckman Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lyndahl Funeral Home on Dec. 26, 2025.
Jean M. Heckman, age 89, of Green Bay, passed away peacefully at Bellin Hospital on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 with her loving family by her side and entered Heaven to the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jean was born August 8, 1936 in Shawano, WI to Raymond and Adelia (Strassburg) Diestler. On September 6, 1959 she was united in marriage to Thomas A. Heckman in Shawano. He preceded her in death on January 26, 2019.

Jean's guiding light in life was her faith. She was an active member of St Mark Lutheran Church, volunteering in many church activities. In her later years, she continued to serve the Lord with an active daily prayer life, focusing on the needs of others.

Jean's greatest joy was raising her children and later on babysitting her grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with family at the cottage, polka music, watching Hallmark movies, and playing cards and dominos with family and friends.

Philippians 1:21 "For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain". Though she will be greatly missed, we take comfort in knowing we'll be reunited in Heaven someday.

Jean is survived by her children: Mark (Teresa) Heckman, Green Bay; Scott Heckman, Suamico; and Beth (Dave) Walters, Howard; four grandchildren, Christina (Aaron) Baird, Charleston, SC; Daniel Heckman, Troy, MI; Nathan Crabb, Green Bay; Libby Crabb, Howard; brother, Dave (Jeanette) Diestler, Green Bay; and by many relatives and friends.

A celebration of Jean's life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 29, 2025 at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1167 Kenwood St. Green Bay, with the Rev. John Parlow officiating. Visitation at the church begins at 9:30am until the time of service.

The family is grateful for the loving care provided by the staffs at Emerald Bay Assisted Living and Bellin Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
