DURHAM – Jean Farrow Holleman, age 96, passed on October 3, 2025. She was born on May 12, 1929, to the late Joseph A. Farrow and Iva Collins Farrow.

She graduated from the Women’s College of UNC in 1948. Her first job out of college was as a clerk-typist at Fidelity Bank. In 1973 she was promoted to Vice President and Manager of the Trust Department at Wachovia in Durham. At that time there were no other women with that position. Her biggest satisfaction was being able to help people and see them obtain the goals they worked for. She also felt great satisfaction with establishing the Epworth United Methodist Church Endowment Fund and managing if for 25 years.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Karen (Buddy) Burris, her granddaughter, Jennifer (Benjamin) Carson, her grandson, Mike (Kendall) Burris, great grandson, Jeremiah Burris, great granddaughter Hailey Burris, sister-in-law, Bill Farrow, cousins and niece. She was preceded by her husband, Bill Holleman, her son Doug Holleman, and brother Joe Farrow, Jr.

The family extends a special thank you to Linda Hunt whose patience and warmth brought comfort to Jean and Karen. We cannot thank Duke Hospice enough for their dedication and professionalism.

A private graveside service will be held for the family. She will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Memorial Cemetery. Please consider a donation to the Epworth United Methodist Church Endowment Fund, a cause close to Jean’s heart.
