Jean Cathryn Hunt, born on December 10, 1933, in Alberta, Canada, passed away on December 15, 2024, near her home in Clovis, CA. She was the beloved wife of the late L. Gerald Hunt and the first child of Christopher and Rosalie McCombs. Jean had a younger sister, Hazel, and a brother, Douglas, along with many family members residing in Canada.
After moving from Canada to Fresno, California, during her youth, where her father worked as a station master for Southern Pacific Railroad and her mother ran an in-home beauty shop, Jean embarked on a career with AT&T and the Bell System. She later attended Fresno City College while working for the Fresno County Sheriff's Office, where she earned her degree and became a dedicated social worker for the County of Fresno until her retirement in the early 1990s.
Jean was known for her independent spirit and infectious smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed entertaining, especially during the holiday season, and cherished spending time with family and friends.
Though Jean had no children of her own, she is survived by her niece Diane, great nieces Shannon and Kimberly, daughter-in-law Debbie, grandchildren Nolan and Brianne, and stepson Jerry. She also leaves behind several great grandchildren and great-great nieces and nephews.
Jean will be fondly remembered for her love of family, friends, and the home life she enjoyed for 91 years. Her family extends their gratitude to the staff of St. Agnes Hospice and Green Gables Home Care for their care and support.
A memorial service will be held at Clovis Funeral Chapel, Clovis, CA, on Friday, January 24, 2025, at 2:00pm.

I just learned about the passing of my Aunt Jean, and I´m deeply saddened. She lived a wonderful life and cared deeply for everyone she met. I will miss her dearly. May God guide her to heaven. Rest in peace. Love, niece Denise
