Jean Eleanor Johnson

Our family is deeply saddened by the passing of Jean E. Johnson (97), who died peacefully in the loving arms of Jesus on Dec. 16, 2025, just shy of her 98th birthday. She was the cornerstone of our family and a source of endless love and strength. Her life span was filled with love and an unwavering devotion to God and her family. Jean was born in Appleton on Jan. 14, 1928, the daughter of Jesse Earl and Nora (Krenkel) Ballard.

She was a graduate of Appleton High School, Class of 1946. On November 25, 1949, she was united in marriage to Allen F. Johnson at First English Lutheran Church in Appleton.

Jean is survived by her 4 children: Gary Johnson, Holly (Dave) Fischer, Allen Jr. (Lynn) Johnson and Nora May (Sam) Broeniman; 12 grandchildren: Sarah (Jason Thane) Johnson, Lars Johnson, Brent Haring, Alexa Haring, Christopher (Teri) Haring, Angela Kunz, Amanda (Chad) LaFever, Joshua (Corylei) Fischer, Luke Johnson, Rachel (Tanner) Alanko, Abby (Brett) Kramer and Max (Marissa Miller) Broeniman; 16 great grandchildren: Marie Thane, Huck Thane, Carson Haring, Isaac Haring, Ella Haring, Alex Kunz, Andrew Kunz, Aiden Kunz, Winston LaFever, Violet LaFever, Dylan Clapper, Julia Fischer, Levi Alanko, Eliise Alanko, Harvey Kramer and Lucas Kramer; a sister, Carol (Ballard) Pfefferkorn and many many nieces and nephews.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Allen; Allen's Parents: Wilmer and May (Parks) Johnson; siblings: Arlene and Robert Maves, LaVahn (Samuel) Miles, Nona (Russell) Peterson and Dolf Pfefferkorn, George Johnson, Mary (Frances) Liethen; nephew Kurt Miles, niece Kaaren Miles Shortley, and great granddaughter Logan Lei Clapper.

Jean liked gardening, cooking/baking, golfing, knitting and you name it, she did it. But one thing she didn't like was vacuuming!

A Memorial Service for Jean will take place on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, N1615 Meadowview Dr, Greenville, WI 54942 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin directly at church from 9 – 11 AM. She will be laid to rest at Historic Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Jean would prefer a donation to her church.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Care Partners in Hortonville; Moments Hospice, Gabi, Linda and staff and Pastor Kent. And we can't forget two special friends that were a part of her life that took care of her as well, Olive and Kari. You are all a blessing from God.

We Love you Mom!!

And Mom would always answer, "I Love You More"
