LOWVILLE - Jean M. Matuszczak, 63, died early Thursday morning, October 10, 2024 at Albany Medical Center where she had been a patient for a few days.
Jeanie was born on May 21, 1961 in Utica the daughter of the late Margaret A. Kafka Garlock and Lester (Mike) Garlock who help raise her as his own daughter. She attended school at Adirondack Central School and South Lewis Central School. At a young age she became very interested in art. She used her artistic gift working for E.C. Crooks and T.F. Wright Monuments helping in designing memorials.
She married Anthony "Butch" Matuszczak at Constable Hall garden on June 8, 1991. The couple made their home on Tug Hill. Jeanie loved the outdoors, she enjoyed gardening, her flower gardens, hunting, and four wheeling. She also did canning, making jewelry and crafts. She and Butch loved Tug Hill and what had to offer. Butch died on May 31, 2022.
Surviving are her two children, Mary E. Burr and her husband David Hutchins; her son, Jonathan Burr; her two grandchildren, Madison and Dylan Hutchins; her two brothers, Francis "Jasper" Kafka and Michael "Junior" Garlock; her sister, Donna and Charles Myers; her aunt, Sherry Kafka, who was more of a sister to her; and her nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be on Friday, October 18th at 1:00 P.M. at Martinsburg Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
