Jean M. O'Keefe passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at age 91. Jean, a lifelong resident of Lorain, was born to John and Elizabeth (nee Kosztyu) Cyprus on November 16, 1933.
Jean graduated from Lorain High School Class of 1952A. Following graduation, she worked as a secretary at Bendix-Westinghouse in Elyria, OH from 1952 until 1957.
On September 8, 1956, Jean married the love of her life, John "Ed" O'Keefe Sr. and they were blessed with four wonderful children.
Later, when her children were grown, she went to work at Margie's Hallmark in Lorain from 1981 until her retirement in 1997.
Jean enjoyed traveling and visiting many states and countries with family and friends. She also enjoyed painting and drawing, sewing clothes for her daughters, making Halloween costumes for her grandkids, and attending all her grandchildren's sporting and school music events.
Jean is survived by her son, John Jr. and daughters, Chris Kolleda (Jay – deceased), Cathy Turner (Grant) and Peggy Baron (Gary); 8 grandchildren, Brooke, Chad, Lauren, Erin, Erica, Kellie, Blake and Coleton; and 5 great-grandchildren, Lily, Jay, Sage, Ayden and Eleanore.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband of over 59 years John "Ed" O'Keefe Sr.; parents, Elizabeth and John Cyprus; siblings, Helene Weber and Richard Cyprus; and her niece, Cindy Weber.
The family will receive family and friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain (440) 244-1961 on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 9:20 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 13, 2025, at St. Mary Church, 309 West 7th Street, Lorain, OH 44052. Fr. Daniel O. Divis, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park in Amherst Twp. Online condolences may be sent using www.rsgfuneralhome.com.
